Heather Anne Wakeling
Mrs. Wilkinson was a wonderful mother, and especially patient. A woman who I always looked up to. As a child, whenever I was welcomed into her home at Rosedale, she always made me feel so at home. As an artist, I admired her work and remember watching her as she cut wild flowers and put them into a burlap bag for use of dying her wonderful natural wool cloth. She left her imprint in many stores, art made from all natural materials. Beautiful lamps, woven cloth. She was forward thinking, an environmentalist before her time, in utilizing natural products, her clay cups, natural soaps. I was fascinated by her. Betty did try to teach me to weave. Unsuccessfully I might add. "Oh, well" she said, "you can't expect to do anything perfect without a lot of practice. Just enjoy this beautiful fall day." And enjoy those visits I did. She will be missed, and my condolences go to her family and friends from myself and my mother Louise. With her passing closes yet another snapshot of history, she was a beautiful woman who showed courage and dignity in all aspects of her life. I was lucky to have known her.
